The new coronavirus has killed at least 6,420 people worldwide since its appearance in December, according to a report by the AFP from official sources on Sunday afternoon. More than 163,930 cases of infection have been recorded in 141 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic. This number of diagnosed cases, however, reflects reality only imperfectly, as countries have more or less restrictive accounting policies and criteria.
Since the count made at the same time the previous day, 653 new deaths and 12,153 new cases have been recorded worldwide.
The countries with the most new deaths in 24 hours are Italy with 368 new deaths, Iran (113) and Spain (105).

Elsewhere in the world, there were Sunday a total of 3221 deaths (643 new) for 83,094 cases (12,133 new).
