Alex Mali Gets Emotionally Real With “Heart Strings”
As the Afrobeat sound takes over the music industry, with its silky drum beats and fragrant melodies, Alex Mali explores the trend with the single "Heart String". The mellow, cadenced production really complements her velvety vocal timbre and it’d be thrilling to have more sounds like this from the emerging young R&B star.
Indeed, “Heart Strings”, not only exhibits a vulnerable side of the singer, but also confirms her versatile and creative musicianship. The songwriting encapsulates the transition that occurs after a heartbreak, leading to a closing of the heart. Mali explains it in her own words, quoting:
"I think we can all agree that love is great, but can also be very unkind. It's always a risk letting your guard down, but after any heartbreak, it becomes increasingly difficult to give people access to your vulnerability. So, what happens after that? Well, I guess the moral of the story is, I just can't give away my love."
